The blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra) is an ungulate species of antelope native to the Indian subcontinent that has been classified as near threatened by IUCN since 2003, as its range has decreased sharply during the 20th century. The powerful and influential people want special treatment everywhere ….
Had posted earlier about this interesting post in Daily Mail which quotes the actor Salman Khan as saying - 'I'm not asking for a government job, I just want to travel to the UK!' Bollywood star Salman Khan's legal troubles deepened with the the Supreme Court 'prima-facie', insisting that it cannot stay his conviction in the 1998 black buck poaching case to enable him to travel to the UK for a film shoot. The Bench, however, did not take a final stand and reserved the plea for pronouncement of final verdict after hearing the arguments of Khan's lawyer and the Rajasthan government.   Among a slew of reasons the Bench gave not to stay the conviction, head Justice S.J. Mukhopadhyay gave the most hard-hitting, stating: "You say you are facing hardship and difficulty in discharging professional duties because you won't get a UK visa if the conviction is not suspended. the famous and powerful many times feel that they are above law ! –Before law everyone is equal is a common statement – and one may hope that everyone is equal in the eyes of the law, however when it comes to legal justice, there is one group that definitely gets off easier than the rest .. .. Celebrities may technically be subject to the same rules as us civilians, but when they break them, the consequences are far less severe. Is it fair? No way. Is it reality? ~nothing to do with the blackbuck case – the situation is same, jurisdiction is different but Justice perhaps is the same … … When a famous person gets arrested, they go through the same booking system that everyone else does - thus, the wonderful and public collection of infamous celebrity mugshots. The difference comes in court, where it seems like wealthy stars can commit numerous crimes and still walk away with just a slap on the wrist. Where regular people would face lost licenses, huge fines, and jail time, celebs get rehab, community service, and anger management courses. This time, the scene is miles away – the New York.Frontline media reported that there are two standards of justice at play in this city: one for freakishly entitled celebs who run roughshod over innocent folk, and another for the rest of us ordinary dolts. The news report stated that Manhattan Criminal Court Judge— the same jurist who once threw a book .. .. gave a differential treatment to supermodel Naomi Campbell. Modal Trigger Naomi Campbell pleaded guilty to assaulting her maid in 2007, but was allowed to cop to a misdemeanour. In one case, the Judge convicted the flakyGenevieve, 41, of stalking and harassing the celebrated rageaholic Alec, 55, and his wife, Hilaria, 29. He sentenced the cracked Canadian actress wannabe to an astonishing seven months in jail — including 30 days for contempt after she shrieked, cried and whined in court. But justice was far kinder and gentler when faced with a bona-fide toxic celeb, the surly catwalker named Naomi. The manic mannequin faced the judge in 2007, pleading guilty to a charge of misdemeanour assault for clocking her maid, Ana Scolavino, then 38, in the head with a jewel-encrusted BlackBerry in Naomi’s Park Avenue duplex. Originally, Naomi, who’s been accused of beating on the help no fewer than 10 times between 1998 and 2008, faced a felony charge for assaulting the uncelebrated servant, which could have brought her two to seven years in prison if convicted at trial. When shew as summoned she told the forum that hurling her phone at Ana was an “accident.” The judge sentenced her to a mere five days’ community service, ordered her to pay the maid’s $363 in medical expenses and forced the ill-tempered model to take anger-management classes. .. .. .. want to say something !
