So people, the first film of this year’s superhero film saga has released and it has indeed
arrived in grand style paying up to the expectations of the fans (excitement overload!!!). It’s
the first time that Marvel has portrayed the Deadpool character in a full length feature film. Its
funky trailers as we know, gives us the bottom line of the character and has indeed created a
huge vibe among us fans that attracts us to the theatres to watch this movie.
Setting apart my excitement, I would now like to review the film. Deadpool, is a trademark
American, “super-hero” movie that has the “Marvel” stamp all over it. Be it the humour,
sarcasm, action, dialogues, references, everything is very “Marvel” about it. Now Deadpool,
has lot of tricks up its sleeve. First, the opening credits has been put up in a different and
jovial way pointing to the film’s theme. Second, the performance of the cast is good and
enjoyable. Ryan Reynolds deserves special mention, as he really lived the character on
screen understanding its depths. His timing and dialog delivery renders the combined
sense of seriousness and the humor that the character demands. Third, kudos to the
writing department in giving a slightly off track script than the traditional superhero film
scripts. Its high on humour, sarcasm and references but at the same time has the correct
balance of the straightforward story and the characters in it. Fourth, the director Tim Miller
has done good job in narrating the film to the audience. Particularly, the flashback wound
action portion in the beginning. The graphics and CGI department have done a superb job in
capturing some action scenes making it a visual treat for the fans. Soundtracks by Junkie XL
perfectly suit the situation giving it the required punch.
The part where the team slightly lose their target is that, however different the script is
eventually the sameness does exist in some places. One can also feel that in some stages
there is nothing more than a bunch of heavily sarcastic jokes, references and action
sequences apart from the stereotypical background story guided by the same emotion as
always. Some humor could have been avoided and twists could have been introduced. But
hey, who cares!!!! Its Marvel!!!
On the whole, Dead pool is a different, funny, slightly violent and grisly, but a perfect
entertainer for those adults who love super-hero comics.
Verdict- Watch it for the red-suit guy and his mesmerising antiques as he steals the show
completely!!!
My score-3.5/5
