Day 3: Bubble Snake

By Sjay235 @naturalmommainm
Isabelle adores bubbles, and so for today's activity I decided to finally create the bubble snake activity I have seen on Pinterest.
It took two minutes to set up, and everything I used was lying round the house:
- the top of a plastic bottle (sports cap worked best)
- an old sock
- a rubber band
- bubble solution (we used washing up liquid and water)
I chopped the bottle up, and pulled the sock over the end. We didn't secure it in place as I couldn't find an elastic band, but it would be a good idea just to hold it in place. I mixed washing up liquid and water in a bowl, dipped the sock in and....blew.
I was actually a little sceptical that I could reproduce the amazing snake I saw online, and yet it happened instantly! It was amazing to see the bubble mass grow and grow. It stays together really well, and we were able to pick it up and 'throw it' about. This is was much better than normal bubbles
, as by the time Isabelle has chased them down they have usually popped, whereas these bubbles stayed together and unpopped for a long time, and she was able to manipulate them herself.
Mostly, Simon and I blew the bubbles, but Isabelle had a go too, but she was more interested in playing with the bubbles themselves. She chased them around the garden, popping them and picking them up and she also learnt to 'stamp', spending some time smashing them under her feet.
All in all, big success for the whole family - Simon and I loved it, and Roxy goes bonkers for bubbles, to the point where we have to banish her. This is definitely going to be a firm favorite in our house - we have tried 3 different bubble machines and none produced such amazing amounts of bubbles, and all eventually died! I don't think we will ever run out of old, single socks and bottles!
