Day 1 – Twelve Days of Thinkibility Challenge

By Thinkibility

Welcome to the first challenge. A challenge filled with a dollop of fun, a spoon of seriousness and an ocean of thinkibility.

On the first day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
A Partridge in a Pear Tree

The Twelve Days of Christmas” is an English Carol where increasingly grand gifts are given on each of the twelve days of Christmas.

On the first day three different concepts are introduced.

Playing around with these concepts may provide insights into ways to make the festive season more. . . well, sometimes it is good to build a framework and determine what kind of ideas you are looking for.

For example, on this the first day of Christmas we may look for ideas that are:

  • fun
  • sustainable
  • gives something back to the local community

Next step is to extract some ideas from the three concepts.

Partridge – Fly, Ground, Farmland, Sand Dunes

Pear – Edible, Dietary Fibre, Pear wood (used for making wood instruments and furnitures)

Tree – Roots, Communication, Leaves (go here to read about how trees can be used as inspiration for building houses)

Now the foundation for a creative approach to thinking has been laid.

Part of the idea behind the concept thinkiblity is that our thinking is influenced  by the environment, for example, music. So you can put on some music or listen to the video below with the carol Twelve Days of Christmas and then start to generate some ideas by combing and play around with the ideas that you extracted.

Remember that strange and crazy ideas can be improved upon! To kickstart your creative session is a video with Innovative Christmas Trees.

Many of the ideas in the video try to encourage us to reuse and be more creative with our Christmas trees. By combining the concepts above, you might find a way to make your own Christmas tree or Festive celebrations more sustainable, fun and even give something back to the local community.
