Regular readers will know of my withering contempt for our military brass based on my strong suspicion that over recent years they have seized on every possible chance to push British forces into any and every flare-up in the world, not for strategic reasons but mostly to safeguard, or better still, inflate, budgets and their own grossly over-manned (and over-paid!) positions. Today my suspicion has turned to certainty based on an article written by Lord Dannatt, former CoS, in The Telegraph.
This 'war horse donkey' insists that the government should reverse its defence policy by recruiting an extra 3,000 men and, thus, by sending a brigade back to Germany 'we'll teach that Russian chappie we mean business'! I can only shake my head in disbelief and wonder what planet Dannatt inhabits? A brigade of 3,000 men! Putin will be shaking inside the Kremlin, er, with helpless laughter not fear. And that's not all. He bemoans the fact that we did not undertake action against Assad in Syria. Good thinking-not, General, given that the people likely to replace Assad are precisely those mad Mullahs and their fanatical Islamist followers who are determined to attack us!
I am the first to put the boot into 'Dim Dave' but can one really blame him given the self-interested morons who provide his advice.
