Cute Kitten Just Can’t Stop Smiling After Being Rescued from a Shelter and Given a Loving Home

Via Daily Mail: An orphaned kitten who was finally adopted into a loving home couldn’t be happier about finding a family – and she’s had a smile on her face ever since they picked her up from the shelter.

Rey, an orange long-haired feline who is thought to be part Maine Coon, is taking the internet by storm thanks to her infectious grin, which her new family documents daily on her Instagram page, which she shares with her two furry feline siblings. In fact, it was Rey’s Cheshire Cat-like smile which caught her new owner’s eye in the first place

‘I just had a hunch to stop by the shelter on my way home from work and found this little lady and was immediately smitten with her,’ the Salt Lake City-based owner told cat rescue blog Love Meow.

The kitten, now five months old, is named Rey after the female protagonist of the recently-released Star Wars: The Force Awakens, played by actress Daisy Ridley.

Fittingly, her mom and her human dad refer to the kitten as their ‘little Rey of sunshine’.

Because the fluffy feline was rescued from a shelter, the owners have no way of finding out her exact breed, but thanks to her thick tail, the couple believe she is part Maine Coon, a breed of domestic cats known for their large size and gentle nature.

And that sweet temperament has certainly worked wonders with the family’s other pets; since joining the household, Rey has been getting along well with her new brother Coen, a striped tabby cat and her new sister Ava, an older black and white cat. In fact, according to the owners, the siblings ‘dote on her and are constantly trying to groom her and play with her’.

The kitten’s every adorable move has so far been documented on the owner’s cat-centric Instagram account that has garnered nearly 2,500 followers.

On a recent photo of Rey lounging at home, the couple wrote that the kitty is currently going through a phase where she ‘torments her brother nonstop, constantly demands food, and doesn’t know how to sleep’.

Though a few posts later they noted that they – understandably – can’t say ‘no’ to her innocent smile.
