Current Fabric Inspirations

By Heather @home_modern

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a few (affordable) fabrics currently inspiring me and my plans for them. First up is this fig leaf fabric on the bench at the end of this bed.

{I can’t find the source for this image–let me know if you know}

I’m digging the combo of the dark wood with the green leaves on a white background fabric. I found this Tommy Bahama fabric on eBay with a similar and look and want to use it to reupholster the cushion on a reproduction mid-century bench we have.

It essentially looks like this now, and I think it would be happier with a little dose of tropicana.

Next up is this image from an earlier season of Mad Men when Betty hired the decorator.

I’m obsessed with this chair fabric and am almost positive it’s Waverly’s Garden Lattice in Onyx, but using the backside of it. Here’s the right side of it:

But here’s the back of it, which is almost more of a showstopper than the front.

Same fabric people! I know because I went to Joanne’s, found it, flipped it over and took this photo.  I want to find a more feminine, smaller club chair to reupholster in this for our living room. This chair that I spotted in Austin would be perfect all dressed up in lattice!

I’ve also been inspired by these striped roman shades for a while now and think I’ve found the perfect place to put them to work.

I’m going to do a basic black and white stripe in our kitchen and picked out this Sunbrella fabric on eBay.

{Sunbrella Black and White Deck Stripe, eBay $14.95/yard}

A few of the shades will be near areas where they can get wet or are subject to muddy dog paws (think: shade down the length of a windowed door + jumping dog) so I thought the Sunbrella would be the most durable.

Happy weekend!

XO,
Heather
