Curious Critters

Eye-catching and entertaining, Curious Critters is the brainchild of dad photographer David FitzSimmons.  In this new coffee table style book, he captures stunning images of some familiar and not-so-familiar friends, in which we share our planet.

Each critter gets personal in a quirky first person account; you meet 24 total in this book. Page after page, you get a quick glimpse into their personalities, as they share fun, educational tidbits you may not have known.   But it’s the images that really help you enjoy getting to know these curious critters.  The detail in each image is fantastic, visual simulation for readers of all ages. It’s funny – you may think some of the critters actually posed for Mr. FitzSimmons; my kids sure think the Monarch did. Who knew an opossum could be cute?  I’ve come across one in person and that was not my impression (I’ll bore you with that panicked debacle on another day).  The one in this book, however, grew on me.

Curious Critters also features a snapshot summary for review, a silhouette matching game and glossary of new critter terms at the end of the book.  Readers will also learn how to group like species (amphibians, reptiles, insects etc.) with an easy to follow color chart; $20 at www.curious-critters.com.
