A homemade crunchy flapjack with a little dark chocolate is just comfort food! Sweet but not too sweet, crunchy but yet soft flapjack bars are just delicious specially for the mid afternoon snack time.
Flapjacks are great office snacks, as they keep well and don't need to be kept cool or in a fridge, and not messy either. However I'm sure if you tipped my keyboard upside down you might see crumbs.
This is such as quick recipe, and yet so simple and the bonus is you could add additions like raisins, nuts, choc chips to give them a little zing or keep them plain. They do taste just as good without the chocolate as well.
Ingredients
300g Oats
150g Butter
150g Golden Syrup
100g Brown Sugar
50g Dark Chocolate
Add the butter, golden syrup and brown sugar to a small shallow pan.
Melt over medium heat, stirring the mixture.
Add the oats to a large bowl
Pour in the sweet butter mixture and stir well making sure all the oats are coated in the butter mixture.
Pour the flapjack mixture into a greased or lined baking tray, and press down firmly and evenly into the tray.
Sprinkle over the top chopped dark chocolate.
Baked in the oven at 180c for 15-20 minutes.
Allow to cool completely then slice into smaller pieces and enjoy
