Cruelty-Free Easter Egg Decorating Fun

By G J @myfavesjournal

Every now and then I like to get my crafty on. It relaxes me and takes me back to my childhood. Easter is one of those holidays that takes me there.

Knowing what chickens have to endure in the egg production industry, amusing myself at their expense seems kinda shell-fish. Live and omelet live, I say (ok…no more egg puns)! So, this year I’m going to get my creative flow cracking with EggNots. They’re a cruelty-free Easter Egg alternative. EggNots are dyeable ceramic Easter eggs which look and feel like eggs and make for a great Easter Egg coloring experience. Whether you’re planning to create an Easter egg basket for your kids, best friend, mom, or significant other, these EggNots are perfect addition to your creativity.

As for me, I’m planning on having a “girl’s night in” with some wine, chocolate, and some fun EggNots Easter Egg decorating fun. For fun eggcellent (sorry, last pun) DIY and coloring, check out my EggNots recipe below.

The EggNots Recipe
Ingredients:
Combine:

  • 1 teaspoon food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Choose a cup or mug small enough for the liquid mixture to completely cover the EggNots.

Instructions:
– Place EggNots in the mixture for 3 – 5 minutes, depending on desired color.
– EggNots will float, so you will need to weigh them down with a spoon or continue to roll them in the liquid.
– For the best results in color uniformity, pat the colored EggNots with a paper towel once they are removed from the dye.
– Allow EggNots to dry completely.

If you celebrate Easter, I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!
