Drawing North is composed of Michael ‘Po’ Pogson (lead vocals), Drew Southwell (piano, drums, guitar, vocals) and Jake Allen (bass, guitar, drums). The childhood friends formed in 2010, and are now gearing up to make their move from Australia to the States this summer.
Recently, Drawing North released a brand new video for “Stay,” and have just released their followup – their newest single, “Think About You.” Both of these songs will be featured on Drawing North’s forthcoming EP, due out this summer.

How did the band come together?
Jake and Drew have been best friends basically since birth and they managed to pull me into the group late one night while looking for Christmas lights.
Who or what has inspired your sound and latest single, “Think About You?”
‘Think About You” was inspired by that feeling that I think everyone has felt at one point. It’s about not being able to get someone out of your head. It’s like ghost plaguing your mind.
Is there a story behind your band name?
I think there’s many layers that go into our band name, but it’s originally a play on Drew’s name. Overall it’s about constantly moving forwards onto our next goal.
What is your favorite show memory?
For me, it is when we played the Australia Day concert to 10,000 people in Canberra. I remember a crowd further back than I could see, but at the same time my 2 year old nephew was dancing at the front with my family, which was such a special moment for me.
What would be your dream tour and why?
I would love to tour with OneRepublic. Ryan Tedder is one of our biggest influences and they played a huge role in our growth as a band and me personally as a singer.
Tell us about your writing process; any unusual quirks?
Our process is different every time we write, but most of the time writing melodies is pretty funny. Drew and I will hum along or say random words to fit a melody which is pretty standard, but for some reason we know exactly when we both like a melody that we’ve come up with. We seem to agree simultaneously on the melody.
What’s your favorite song to cover?
My favorite is “Hallelujah.” It’s such a powerful, emotional song and everyone from young to old can sing it.
If you were to create a “soundtrack to your life,” what songs would be on it?
Gotta get “Mmm Bop,” some JT, and OneRepublic on there. Drew was an Eminem fiend back in the day and Jake would have any South American music for sure.
