Create a Special Kids' Space for Learning and Playing

A kids' room is their own little space in the house. It's the place where they spend most of their days, playing and learning. The room needs to be creative, colorful, and fun, in order to speak to the individual personality of your child. So, when you begin designing their room, make sure to consult them, because after all they are the ones who are going to spend most of their time there. However, since kids are more about play than learning, be sure to incorporate a space where they will have a chance to learn something, while still being able to have fun.

A Reading Corner

Create a comfy reading corner for your kids. Get a couple of bean-bag chairs, a reliable lamp, and put up a couple of shelves stacked with books. Your kids will definitely take to this snug little corner of the room, where they can sit back, relax, and enjoy the values of reading. And when play time comes around, it will provide a great spot for hide and seek.

In-Room Workshop

Kids love creating and doing stuff with their hands. Set aside one corner of the room for a workshop. Put in a table and all the necessary tools your kids will need to make astonishing arts and crafts projects. Not only will it be fun, but kids can master using various household objects, and later on you can let them help out around the house. That will certainly boost their self-confidence!

Blackboard Wall

All kids like drawing, especially on walls, once they run out of paper. So, instead of an all-white, hospital background, create a chalkboard wall for your kids. This will provide enough space for them to draw, and since it is removable the opportunity is endless. And once they are finished drawing, they can play school and teach each other some valuable knowledge.

Bulletin Board

Put up a bulletin board in your kids rooms. This is a great trick to teach them words, notions, but also practical knowledge. Make cards with the word of the day, and one by one your kids will increase their vocabulary. On the other hand, by making eight holes and putting in a shoe lace your kids will learn to lace their own shoes in no time.

A Creative Carpet

A creative rug design can help kids with visual learning. Popular carpets, like the ones Zado makes, have a map of the world, the alphabet, or numbers on them, to help children master a particularly tough

field. You will be certain that your kids will always have a visual cue in the back of their minds. And besides being a colorful addition to their room, the soft surface of a rug can also be a great in-door playground.

Go for the Computer

If your kids enjoy video games, go for a computer, rather than a playing console. Although, they will have a similar use, they are worlds apart. Because of its limited purpose a playing console will only provide entertainment for your child, so a computer would be a better choice. With all the endless opportunity of games, programs, and the internet, you will have an ally to help you teach your child everything from math to words through fun and interactive games.

Storage Space

Storage is essential, so be sure to incorporate creative storage designs in your kids room. Taking the time and effort into making boxes, crates, lockers, and closets interesting to kids will ensure their room is always neat and tidy. Kids will learn the value of being well organized, and they will always know where to find their tools, toys, and books. Not only that, but they will have more room to play and enjoy their room to the fullest.

In the end, it is important to teach your child that learning is not something boring, but can be fun as well. Making smart design choices, and setting aside a corner for learning, will definitely give your children the edge when it comes to their development. And by making it a fun experience, your child will never be bored when play time ends, and learning begins.
