Cream Tea and Staycations

Holidays, do you choose to go abroad, or would you stay in the UK? I've had family holidays abroad and they've been really good, but there's so many other holidays we've had in the UK, whether it's Scotland, Wales or the South Coast of England and with all the scenery on our doorstep (give or take a few hundred miles depending on where you want to go) why would you fly elsewhere?
I seem to bring up our holiday to the Isle of Skye whenever I can and I would highly recommend you take a week to visit there at some point. There's incredible landscapes around every corner and if you like being outdoors, then it's definitely the place for you. You can read more about my Skye holiday and see photos, just in case you need more persuasion to visit!
Really though, as a family, we've seen a lot of Scotland. We've been to Ayr, Isle of Arran, Inverness, Glasgow (recently for AC/DC actually) all the way up to Wick and John O' Groats and then there's all the time I'm spending in Edinburgh this month too.
We've spent time in the Lake District and I was there filming our dissertation too. Further south we've visited Weymouth, Dorchester and places in Devon and I had a little work trip to Brighton back in April. Cornwall is somewhere on our list and hopefully, if we find somewhere to stay, we'll be heading down there for the end of the summer.
Staycations are becoming more popular according to a survey by Parkdean Holidays, with 41% of locals from Devon and Cornwall choosing to stay local. Nearly half of those surveyed said the beauty of the area was enough to keep them from jetting off somewhere else and just over 40% suggested the higher cost of going abroad was a reason for them to stay closer to home.
If you are heading to Cornwall, locals recommend you visit Kynance Cove Beach and if you fancy, give surfing a go! Maybe watersports aren't your thing, relax and enjoy cream tea - whether it's the Devonshire way with cream first then jam, or Cornish with the jam first and clotted cream second. It's fairly easy to spot which way I go for...
Parkdean Holidays currently have a competition to win a holiday for you and your family in Cornwall or Devon. Be quick though, the competition ends on 4th September!
What're your thoughts on staycations? Have you visited Devon or Cornwall before? Perhaps more importantly, are you a cream before jam or jam before cream kinda person?
Thanks Parkdean Holidays for this Cornish Cream Tea hamper!
