Crate Paper Design Team : Let's Go

By Jcchris
Hello CP friends! This week it is all about vacation memories. My last overseas vacation to Japan was 2 years ago but I didn't really get to scrap many photos from this trip. Simply because I found out that I got pregnant right after we came back. And that pretty much explained why I was so tired throughout our vacation. Haha.
I was scouting through all the photos and it sure bring back a lot of wonderful memories. After going back and forth, I decided to pick this photo of my daughter at the train station. She absolutely love riding on the train or better known as Shinkansen to the Japanese. She enjoyed pointing out what she could see and eagerly looking forward to see where we would bring her next!
I chose to create with the Oasis collection because it has really fun vacation elements. And the colors will definitely popped out against my photo. I didn't really have anything in mind how this layout should be designed, so I started by placing the photo in the middle of the background paper. Then I started to pick out traveling elements and went with ephemera die-cuts first, where I layered them behind the photo. I felt the background was a little too "clean" and decided to apply yellow paint, layered with gesso and added gold splatters around it. Absolutely loved how vibrant it looked.
Once the paint and splatters dried, I continued to worked my way down by adding more elements like chipboard stickers, accent stickers, puffy stickers and more little phrases here and there. The idea was flowing and I loved every minute of that!
By using different kind of stickers on your layout, that would create fun textures and dimension. Something I truly enjoy doing!
