With Tottenham Hotspur contesting The Champions' League Final against Liverpool in Madrid tonight, I'm reposting a couple of Spurs-flavoured blogs from the archive.

But before we go any further, it's confession time. I'm not really a proper, dyed-in-the-wool, bona fide, lifelong Spurs fan. I'm an Edinburgh man by birth and my particular cross-to-bear is that of being a Hibs fan.

But my 11-year-old daughter IS a proper, dyed-in-the-wool, bona fide, lifelong Spurs fan . And I'm a proper, dyed-in-the-wool, bona fide, lifelong fan of HER.

And one of the highlights of my Dad career was taking her to her first game, back in September 2016.

The game was at Wembley (the new Spurs stadium was still under construction) in the Champions' League action and was a famous night with a crowd of 85,011 – a new English record attendance for a club match.
For my daughter Isobella (then aged 9) it was her first Spurs game (she's a big fan) and, despite the score (Monaco won 2-1) it was a memorable night…
