This afternoon I visited Coombe hill, Buckinghamshire. The area is owned by the National trust and a lot of the site is being restored to chalk grassland by the rangers and volunteers, you can find their blog here
Firstly here is some pictures of the amazing view:
There were a fair few butterflies around including small and large skippers, marbled whites, meadow browns, gatekeepers, small heath and brimstones:
and some 6 spotted burnet moths
Along with some ragwort crawling in insects, especially cinnabar moth caterpillars:
There was also other insects present:
There was 4 kestrels (presumably a family) hunting:
Along with 6 whitethroats!
There was also some lovely flowers as well:
These belted galloway cattle graze the land and help restore the chalk grassland:
