The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has launched a series of targeted inspections to safeguard consumer interests throughout the festive season.
These operations, which will run from December 1 to January 15, focus on retail shops and supermarkets nationwide.
The CAA announced that inspections will cover all major wholesale markets and storage facilities across districts to prevent expired goods from reaching consumers. Additionally, outlets selling clothing, electronics, and other essential and durable items will be closely scrutinized.
The raids will prioritize ensuring proper business practices, including issuing official receipts for items sold at approved prices, as well as verifying that price tags are displayed and that goods are sold at accurate rates.
Furthermore, mobile vendors and stores conducting large-scale seasonal sales will also come under review.
The CAA emphasized heightened vigilance on warehouses and wholesale suppliers previously inspected, due to concerns about expired products or altered labeling entering the market.
Consumers with concerns or complaints are encouraged to report them to the CAA through its 1977 hotline.
