Your Google home page ($ 130 at QVC) Smart speaker is possibly the best speakerphone you didn't even know you had. It's great to use Google Home to gather the whole family for a call with other family members and friends, and it's fun to use voice commands to start and end calls to loved ones or even businesses.
You can also use your phone to do other things, such as: For example, scrolling social media, playing games, or texting while you're talking. Even the Pintsize Nest Mini ($ 49 at Crutchfield) has a bigger, louder speaker than anything you'll find in a cell phone.

You want all the calls you make with Google Home to show up as your normal cell phone number when you call friends and family. So we'll show you how to set this up first. Then we have everything you need to know about making phone calls using Google Home.
First, link your mobile number and synchronize the contacts
By default, Google Home shows "No Caller ID" when you make calls. You want to change that so people know who is calling.
2. Scroll to Services and tap Voice and video callsand then tap Mobile calling.
3. Tap Your own number, then enter your number and the six-digit code that Google uses to verify.
Use Voice Match to allow multiple people to make calls
If your Google Home setup has only one user (presumably you), anyone who interacts with it can only call your contacts. However, if you set up Voice Match so that multiple people can get personalized results on Google Home, they can also link their contacts and make calls from their own number. To add someone to your Google Home page:
3. Enter a contact's name on your phone or an email address and Google will send an invite.
Note that the person must have or create a Google Account and sign in to the Google Home app on their phone or tablet in order to join your household. Once they do this, they have the option to either accept or decline your invitation.
To set up Voice Match:
3. Tap Teach your assistant your voice Follow the instructions to create a language profile.
Make phone calls with simple voice commands
Once you've made all of the settings, you can do almost anything you normally do when you're on a phone call on your smartphone, just with voice commands (that start with either "Hey, Google" or "OK, Google").
- To start a call, say: "Call [contact name]. "
- When you call a company you say: "Call [business name]. " If there is multiple locations, add the street of the location you want to call. If you don't know, you can ask where the nearest place is. "Call that."
- You can also say "Redial."
To end a call you can say:
You can also let Google Home know about this "mute" and "Unmute."
The more uses you can find for your Google Home, the more places you want in your home. Check out these unusual (but extremely useful) places to put your extra smart speakers. To make sure that the speaker you're talking to is the one responding, you'll need to adjust the wake word sensitivity. Here's what Google Home may have missed: It's a great meteorologist.
