Story: Concrete Utopia starts in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake in Seoul. Only one apartment complex survived the disaster, the one where Min-sung (See-joon) and Myung-hwa (Bo-young called home. The fellow survivors move toward the apartment causing tension with limited space or supplies.
Meanwhile, the residents must figure out what to do next, voting for Yeong-tak (Byung-hun) to lead them and help make the difficult decisions. However, this only leads to added tension within the neighbourhoods, as people battle to survive without any rescuing coming their way.
Verdict on Concrete Utopia
Concrete Utopia is an action thriller following the residents of an apartment building which survives an earthquake. They must figure out how to survive in a destroyed city where nobody has supplies and nobody is coming to help them.
This thriller shows the chaos caused in the aftermath of a mass disaster. It challenges the social consequences in the world and shows how different people react to the situation. We have barbaric behavior in an attempt to survive. However, it doesn’t seem to address the bigger question of what happened to the rest of the world. It is nice to know the awesome Badland Hunters is in the same universe too.
