COMPETITION // Know Your Labels // WIN A Painting By Ben Allen

By Annamoss84 @missanniebean

Can you believe it's December?! Where has the time gone! I'm now ready to embrace the festive season, bring out the velvet dresses, dig out those woolly knitted jumpers and of course replace every top I own with something sparkly! To celebrate my switch to a festive wardrobe I am doing an super special giveaway! You can get your hands on a bespoke piece of art (worth £2,250) by the super talented Ben Allen from his campaign with LG. Maybe give your prize to a loved one as a Christmas present or why not keep it for yourself? Either way read on to discover how you can get your hands on one...

With the festive season coming up I felt this campaign was really appropriate and wanted to share a bit more information. LG partnered up with Ben Allen to launch an exclusive range of washing machines that were decorating in designs by the artist himself. Aren't they fantastic?! The Know Your Labels campaign is all about encouraging us to wash our clothes properly, by doing so they can last longer and remain in better condition. Unsure what I mean? Here is a fact from the LG team...·  99% of Brits fail to identify the common garment care symbols. The resulting factor of this is billions of pounds in damage to our wardrobes every year.

Crazy isn't it? But I must hold my hands up to it, often I would toss clothes into the washing machine not really identifying what was was most appropriate cycle. Only since working with LG when they first launched this campaign have I taken more notice.
Dawn Stockell, UK Head of Brand at LG Electronics comments: “LG’s commitment to garment care and the ‘slow fashion’ movement is all about giving consumers the tools to keep the clothes they love looking their best for the longest time possible. Our washing machines feature a range of innovations – most notably LG 6 Motion Direct Drive – that delivers an unparalleled level of care in the laundry cycle. From delicate silk to ground-in dirt on denim, LG’s appliances are able to tackle all washing challenges, with the right methods to preserve the vibrancy and life of the fabric itself.”

So how to take really good care of those festive fabrics? What wash to you put on for anything with sequins? How do you keep that LBD still black? What's the best way to look after velvet? I'm sure you have these questions like I did...But this is what LG's big campaign is all about and Ben Allen is making the discovery of this knowledge bold and colourful!
Not sure who the talented artist is? Ben Allen has created such amazing works of art for the likes of Jade Jagger, Stephen Dorff, Sophie Ellis Bexter and Richard Branson. His work has been seen in Selfridges and  has a 40ft piece of artwork dominating the Notting Hill headquarters of Virgin. So, this is definitely one to Google if you haven't already heard about him.

For this LG Know Your Label campaign, Ben created a unique collection of eight artworks that incorporate a selection of the core washing symbols, which frequently appear in the wash instructions of our clothing... instructions we actually often ignore. I absolutely LOVE  what he has created, it's a far more visual way to engage people into understanding each symbol. Check out the video below for a little more information... and to see me chatting about the campaign.
