Big Feed, back and bigger and better

It was a day for sitting on the couch with our cats Fred and Cleo but the award-winning Big Feed was back for 2019 so off we went to Govan to meet a friend and have a catch up over some great food.

It's been far too long since we had last been and it's changed for the better. There are now up to 13 street food vendors, a bigger and fuller bar with hot wine, hot cider, cocktails and beer. There's live music and also a selection of retro arcade machines. Proper toilets are now inside and there's a lot more seating too.

We toasted a hot wine and cider, both went down well, and got ready to eat!

Is that a cheesy toast shack I spy?

With mac 'n' cheese listed? Hell yeah! Quite liked the sound of the mushroom Camembert as well with blackcurrant mayo, hmm... 🤔

I had to order the mac 'n' cheese toastie, which was gooey and crispy with a good slice of bread and toasty in temperature and in texture. 👍👍

While Mr Foodie headed straight to the Salt n Chilli stall for salt and chili prawns with a portion of salt and chilli chips. A high standard of savoury goodness with tasty battered prawns and the occasional fiery slice of chilli.

It's very family-friendly with lots of kids around. There's balloon animals, face painting, kid-sized seats and games to play.

Still being on an Italian vibe from a recent trip to Naples we couldn't ignore the Apecini arancini stall.

A combo portion was ordered - a mozzarella and tomato arancini with a couple of mozzarella fritters. Topped with marinara sauce and some Parmesan cheese. Mr Foodie headed to Nomad pizza for a - get this - pork belly and spinach pizza! That's a topping you don't see every day! A good pizza it was too though not quite up to the high standards of Naples.

As well as being child-friendly, Big Feed is also dog-friendly so there were lots of doggos around, all happy to be inside out of the cold. If you are bringing along your pooch look out for the doggy drinking bowls!

Time for dessert from Muerte Por Churros!

Mr Foodie got me a balloon animal (after much badgering !) So we had to get the bananas for churros plate.

Warm churros, vanilla ice cream, banana and hot Nutella-like chocolate sauce 😍. If only I'd also bought some hot chocolate from the coffee stall for dipping the churros into!

Big Feed is on again today, 3rd February, from 12 noon until 7pm, and then every second Saturday and Sunday (23/24 Feb, 2/3 March, 30/31 March). Entry is £2. On site car parking is available but it fills up fast so we recommend taking public transport. Cessnock, Ibrox and Kinning Park underground stations are all nearby.
