Colorful Spring Wedding Shower

By Styleofsam @styleofsam

Two weeks after the travel themed shower, I hosted a wedding shower for my friend JoJo.  It was going to be an intimate gathering with a lot of her aunties.  Apparently, her aunties were HUGE fans of shower games so I had my work cut our for me!

JoJo wanted an “Indian” shower, so I decided to do bright colors! THIS picture from Southern Living was my inspiration.  {See other ideas on my Colorful Wedding Shower Pinterest Board.}  Don’t you love Pinterest?  I bought LOADS of lanterns, ribbon, and material from Hobby Lobby, and the smaller ikat yellow lanterns were from World Market.

JoJo’s father had recently returned from India and brought back the beautiful table runners.  They were placed throughout the house along with different sized mason jars filled with yellow ranunculus from Costco.  The tassel garland was ordered on Etsy.  Make sure you order them way in advance if you are trying to use it for an event – I’m saying 4-6 weeks enough time unless you want to pay the hefty price for rush shipping.

The colorful Martha Stewart card and envelope sets were perfect for guests to share their wedding wisdom.  As for shower favors… Those cute little kalanchoes also doubled up for shower decor!  Aren’t they the happiest?  I printed the ‘Love in Bloom’ and folded them in half over the plant care card.  Pretty genius, if I do say so myself!

JoJo was SO RIGHT about her aunties!  They were so fun and LOVED playing all the shower games.  Dare I even say competitive!  We played He Said, She Said and Bridal Bingo.  They are normally pros at Bingo but I stumped them a little because the cards were filled with answers to questions about Gio and JoJo.  We also played “Pin the Ring on Gio” which turned into “Pin the Kiss on Gio” because of a small snafu at the craft store.  Long story short, they were sold out of the silver rings I had seen so I bought kiss stickers instead!  It was hilarious!!  We all signed near our kiss stickers.  {I happened to kiss his cropped friend’s armpit! }  The last game was wedding pictionary – SO fun.

And now the menu… Since the shower was at 3pm, we decided on Samosas and Sweets.  JoJo’s dad recommended two places in Irving, and they do NOT disappoint.  YUM, YUM, YUM.  If you are in the DFW area, then visit Bombay Sweets for samosas and/or Royal Sweets for sweets – I got the burfi, jalebi, and rasmalai from there.  The beverages of choice were coffee and chai tea.  Again, I had that lovely silver tea and coffee set from my SIL’s mother.

Isn’t that last picture of JoJo so cute!  She’s getting married this weekend!  Glad I could share a glimpse of what’s been going on in my life recently.  Thank you for visiting my little part of the web!  Happy Thursday!  :)
