As someone who has always been a BIG fan of all things colorful, there is no doubt in my mind that we tend to dress how we feel. Whether we mean to or not. Admit it, when you’re having a blah day, you tend to steer toward those safe greys and browns. And when you’re super excited for something, you instantly reach for the brightest and most fun pieces in your wardrobe!
The colors you wear can also play a big part in changing the way you are feeling. We all know that when you pull on your favorite bright sundress, you can’t help but smile
There have been tons of studies done that go into exactly how the presence of each color affects our moods, and we thought it would be fun to share a little bit about what we’ve been able to find out!
But just what is it that makes us love (or loathe) this hue?
Reds help us feel confident and can even boost our self esteem. Deep brick reds give a feeling or sturdy warmth and groundedness. One thing that most of us adore about red is that it’s the color of L-O-V-E. This is because reds have a tendency to stir up feelings of romance and passion.
The Bad:
Too much red can make us seem intimidating, overly aggressive or like we’re trying to overcompensate for something. (Which can make us seem like we’ve something to hide.) Reds are often used in restaurant decor because this powerful color works to heighten the appetite… which, can be dangerous for our waistlines!
The How To:
A little red goes a long way! Add a confidence booster directly to your outfit with a red scarf or even a favorite red necklace when you’re headed to an interview. If you’re headed to a high school reunion why not pair a HOT red dress with some more neutral accessories to really turn some heads? Just avoid wearing red from head to tow, because being angry is NEVER a good look!
