Color Combinations of Clothes That Work for Any Skin Tone, Hair and Eye Color

For many people, color coordination is one of the most important parts of their style and of their fashion experience. And there is a good reason for that: Knowing what colors go well together and what colors flatter your skin tone, will make you look better, fresher and more stylish.

However, even though many people know the color theory, beginners especially have a hard time discovering exactly what color combinations to wear.

In this sense, here is a list of color combinations that always go together well and that suit every skin complexion and tone:

Black and white is among the big classic color combinations with which you can never go wrong. Just think about it: a dark suit jacket with a white shirt is a combo that goes well on anyone. Even though in theory black clothes don't go very well on people with darker complexions (such as 4 or 5s on the Fitzpatrick scale), a statement-black item is definitely something that works well.

Because black and white are neutrals and don't resemble any other color, they go with pretty much any skin tone, eye and hair color.

A combination that is also timeless and elegant is navy and white. Navy is a great replacement for black, especially if you want to go for a younger or a more casual look.

Navy can also be successfully mixed with colors such as coral or red.

Despite the fact that society might have told you that blue and green don't go together well, they actually do. The reason for this is because they are analog colors, meaning that they lie closely to one another on the color wheel.

Colors that lie (not very) close to each other on the color wheel make for great combinations that are subtle, elegant and sophisticated. This kind of color combinations can be often found in nature.

Therefore, if you want to wear, for example, a tie and pocket square with your suit, you can go for a blue tie and a green pocket square.

Also, playing with shades can work to your advantage. For example, if you are wearing a dark blue tie, you can pair it with a light green pocket square.

A combination based on neutrals, khaki and white make fabulous mix. Even though these two colors are neutrals, and the rule says that mixing neutrals tends to look a little bit boring, both khaki and white are very strong colors, with personalities of their own. This is why; wearing a deep, rich khaki and a pure white goes very well.

The great thing about this combination is that almost anyone in the world can look amazing in khaki and white, regardless of their skin tone, hair and eye color.

Another bold color combination, based on neutrals as well is mixing different shades of gray. Gray is a very special color that takes a step back and allows your natural features to shine.

Wearing different shades of gray at the same time (or, for that matter, a single shade), is a very subtle, complex and stylish way to go, if done right.

The color combinations you can create with your clothes are endless, but it is always a good thing to be aware of a few basic combinations that you can be sure will work anytime you want to have a stylish and polished look. Now, all you need to do is to make sure the clothes you wear fit well and that they are occasion-appropriate and you are all set and ready to go!
