Clone Cops (2025)- An Indie, Self-Aware, Sci-Fi Camp Blast That Needs Word Of Mouth To Survive

You don’t know what this is. It quite likely won’t play in a theater near you. But, Clone Cops is the kind of film I can wrap my head around, because I know these filmmakers are fully aware of what they are making, what the story is, the fact that their budget isn’t that of a Marvel movie, and they are working with unknown on-screen talent. Clone Cops will live and die by those who find it as aware and fun as I did. My only problem is that the film doesn’t have audio description. I didn’t expect this film to, as it feels like one of those movies that made the most out of a small budget, but it is a lot of fun, and I’d love to be able to broadly recommend it. Also, if I ever get on the tomatometer, I won’t be putting ratings on movies without audio description, as I can’t fully define a grade.

But, I’m more than happy to celebrate indie film anyway, because a film like Clone Cops will live and die by word of mouth. Good luck getting Chris Stuckmann to tell his 2 million followers about this. But, it is already not the worst film of 2025, and it is above a film that had studio backing. And, that film had audio description.

Just because you have a budget, a distributor, or millions in the tank won’t make your film interesting. What you need is a hook, and when I was sent a screener opportunity for this, I liked the cut of this jib immediately. In the future, there are clones. Or, as the film tells you, don’t use the C word. Replicants. They prefer replicants.

It’s a self aware, nearly meta, camp classic where we see a team of underdogs trying to survive this dystopian fantasy, but there’s also a streaming program with two hosts that are following some kind of gameplay. And they are about to send the first real person into the game, and he’s stoked. If you are wondering how these two things intersect, I would remind you not to mess up the sauce. I’m getting there.

The movie eventually becomes this “who is even a real person?” Game, as we see our characters interact, and learn they are inside this game. It is so goofy, so unafraid of criticism, I admire it. 2024 brought us Invisible Raptor, 2025 is all about Clone Cops.

This is very likely to make my year end list of the Top 10 Films I wish the most had audio description, just so I could recommend it more broadly. It won’t be for everyone, and people will write it off as being just a bad film, or they won’t get it. This type of thing is a really hard threading of the needle, and you can’t expect everyone to like this brand of humor. but, if you walked into a movie called Clone Cops expecting The Brutalist, that’s on you. Sighted people who love movies of this ilk, seek this out. The rest of us, hope it makes enough money to later get audio description. For more, check out my video.
