Introduced in 1995, the SR20 was the first manufactured light aircraft with all-composite construction and flat-panel avionics. The aircraft is perhaps best known for pioneering the life-saving concept of being equipped with an emergency whole-plane parachute capable of lowering the entire aircraft (and occupants) safely to the ground after a loss of control, structural failure or mid-air collision.
