Christmas Gift Ideas {Children's Books}

By Smilinglikesunshine @smilinglikesuns
For me, you can never have too many books and giving books as a gift is just wonderful. Here are a couple of our favorite books that would make lovely gifts:
Richard Scarry's books are great with wonderful illustrations. It is a great way to get children to talk. Not only you can scaffold their language but also learn a lot about your child's understanding of the world. Richard Scarry's Biggest Word Book Ever is very big indeed and my two little people love sitting on the sofa and reading this book.

Both kids reading the book together

I have reviewed Patrick George's books before (check them out here and here) Not included in my previous reviews, Oh No, is of the same concept, another lovely book. Derin (almost 4yo) absolutely loves reading these books. Each time he gets all of these books off the shelves and spends a good 20-25 minutes or so, totally focused on these books.

Babar... I know this character is a classic but we had never read it before. Until last month. We are in love with Babar. Such heartwarming beautiful stories. For some reason, I had always thought this series is more suitable for under 3s. How wrong! Defne (almost 7 yo) loved these books. Both books give some important messages without being didactic. We will definitely read the rest of the series.

Peter Reynolds: I am totally in love with his illustrations and his books. We first come across his books at the library earlier this year. I highly recommend his set Creatrilogy that contains 3 of his books for little art lovers.

Last but not least, I want to talk about Oliver Jeffers' The Day The Crayons Quit. A funny and well thought out book about a child's crayons who quit. Each and everyone has their own reasons. This book will have your child think about how they use colours whilst painting.
Disclaimer: All of the books except for P. Reynolds's books were sent to us for review purposes by their publishers. However this does not affect our true and honest review of the books.
