Christmas Gift Guide: The Beauty Edition

Posted on the 25 December 2022 by Top10

With Christmas practically knocking on our doorstep, there are those who have left their gift shopping right until the last possible second.

There are also those with only a few coins to spare and may, therefore, be in the market for new spoils for themselves.

We have compiled a gift guide of beauty and skincare items you may want to gift a loved one (or even yourself) this festive season.

Christmas gift guide

Vitaderm product range

Not only are we looking for gifts for others this month but we may be in need of a little help after we overindulge in all the good stuff over the holidays.

From spending afternoons out in the South African summer sun to staying up late and enjoying some alcohol, there is no denying that our skin may be going through it.

Ruan Winter from South African skincare brand Vitaderm says there are little things we can do to mitigate the way our skin reacts to these external factors.

Vitaderm is a skincare brand that has been around for two decades and the brand combines state-of-the-art ingredient technology with advanced nutriceuticals to offer a range of skincare items that is easy to use and offers visible results.

Budget about R320 for a single item and around R750 for a set of products that come in packages made for gifting.

Lelive product range

Lelive (pronounced leh-lee-veh) was created in 2020 by South African actress and influencer Amanda Du-Pont.

According to the brand's official website, the range was developed by expert formulators alongside Lelive's dedicated community on social media to create skincare that's truly made in Africa.

"It's our mission to make skincare that is clean, simple, effective and affordable while celebrating what makes Africa unique."

Skincare is all the rage all over the world right now and products are coveted like never before.

Expect to spend anywhere between R300 and R2 000 on individual Lelive products or product sets.

Lancome

Lancôme is a French luxury perfumes and cosmetics house that distributes products internationally and is part of the L'Oréal Luxury Products division.

The brand recently brought celebrated international make-up expert Sheika Daley to South Africa to speak to an exclusive collection of beauty key opinion leaders, beauty press and VIP customers.

Guests revelled in the chance to learn from one of the most sought-after make-up artists in the global entertainment industry against the backdrop of the chic 5-star luxury hotel, The Westcliff Four Seasons.

Sheika shared her insider tips and tricks using the luxury French beauty brand on the face of self-professed Lancôme girl Shudufhadzo Musida and provided valuable advice on navigating a successful career in the fast-paced beauty world.

One of the two gems The Citizen was introduced to was the Advanced Gentrifique Youth Acting Concentrate, available at most luxury South African beauty retailers for about R1,800.

Another gem The Citizen's beauty desk is loving is the Lancôme long-time no-shine loose setting powder.

Hada Labo Tokyo anti-aging super hydrator lotion

Right before the festive season hit, local retailer Clicks held their annual beauty extravaganza, this time called the Clicks Beauty Playground and it is one of the best places in South Africa for beauty lovers to get acquainted with the latest trends and the hottest products ahead of the festive season.

One such product is the Hada Labo Tokyo Anti-Aging Super Hydrator Lotion.

This product "is an easily absorbed, rejuvenating facial moisturiser with lock-in-moist formula, intended for frequent application"

Best of all, it contains Super Hyaluronic Acid™, collagen and retinol - all the things a beauty lover needs. And it will only set you back R260.

Sofn'free hair mask and curl elongating gel

This brand has been putting out new products for women with all hair types in recent years and the latest offerings we're loving are their hair mask Curl Elongating Gel With Flaxseed Oil and Rosewater.

The brand promises that the gel will prevent shrinkage, stretch natural curls with definition, and maintain a no-crunch shine. "It's the perfect way to achieve gravity-defying moisture-infused curls."

Products retail for about R80 at Clicks.

Playgirl stamp and liner

This product is a recently released product by Playgirl that features a wing tip stamp on one end and a felt tip liner on the other with the promise to help you "achieve precise lines every time."

This is a great gift idea for the people in your life who love a good liner and would like to spend less time achieving the winged-tip look or those who are just too afraid to try it because they're scared they might not get it right.

This item will cost you no more than R200 at Clicks.
