As some of you may know, I am a graduate student at Full Sail University. On campus, there is a giant Jumbotron on top of one of the buildings. While helping guide a Behind the Scenes Tour, I saw an advertisement on the screen to win tickets to see Christina Perri. Later that same day, I heard someone ask about the Christina Perri concert. I hadn’t heard of her so I wanted to check her out. This girl has talent.
In only a little over a year ago, Christina was struggling to take care of herself as a cafe manager. She was then asked to perform a song she had written, “Jar of Hearts,” on So You Think You Can Dance. The song went on to tell over 1 million copies. Christina has since landed a deal with Atlantic Records and landed her song, “A Thousand Years,” on the soundtrack for Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1; which happens to go on sale tomorrow, October 18th (www.christinaperri.com).
lovestrong. is the title of Christina’s debut album. Having an amazing vocal ability, playing the acoustic guitar, playing the piano are a few of her many talents. She is currently on tour and recently played her first show in the UK. The sound of her voice is fun, contagious, yet comforting. In watching her perform on stage you can see how deep her love for her craft truly runs. When listening to her songs you can’t help but hum along and sway to the beats. She is truly a new up and coming artist to look out for.
In still being a new artist in the developmental stage, she can be more personable with her fans. She updates her blog regularly and constantly posts pictures of her relaxing at home or writing songs. Even when performing she chooses small, close, and intimate locations to have better access to her fans. Her acoustic, relaxed sound makes the atmosphere warm and inviting. I hope to catch her show soon!
