I love trying out new things, be it clothes, gifts, toys or food. The majority of things I write about are child based or something my kids end up having or using. Therefore it's always nice when something comes along that is just for me. This time it happened to be some delicious chocolate bars.
The Grown Up Chocolate Company make and sell delicious chocolate bars. The bars are all handmade with quality ingredients in their kitchens in London. The idea behind the grown up chocolate bars is that each bar is a reminiscent of bars we ate in our childhood but with a more adult luxury twist to them.
The bars come in cardboard boxes with a slightly retro looking design to them. Each box contains two bars. Therefore perfect for sharing with a friend or loved one once the kiddies are sound asleep. The bars come in 9 different indulgent varieties. Now you may be thinking – “What makes these bars so different to any others out there”. Well trust me when I say there are no wipords to describe just how amazing these little bars taste. I was not expecting much. I thought they would be similar to other bars too, but omg how wrong was I. The first thing I noticed when I bit into my first bar was just how thick the chocolate was. It's real thick, but it's not hard like say an Easter egg would be. No it's deliciously smooth and tastes amazing and that's just the outer layer. The flavours inside are so heavenly. These bars are just Devine, fabulous in every way. Eating one at a time was enough for me I found. Despite the fantastic taste and texture, they are very filling.
Anyway here is a run down of all the exciting flavours which these Grown Up Chocolate Bars have to offer.
The first bar I chose to try is the Salted Peanut Caramel Cracker. Salted Caramel is one of my over all favorite flavours so I knew this would be nice. It reminds me of a snickers bar; or Marathon as they were called when I was younger, god I sound old now. I found it a lot softer and smoother than snickers but with a similar taste, tho more salty and lots more caramel. The chocolate is so thick.
Second one. Dark Chocolate Smoothie. I can't quite put my finger on what this one reminds me of. I was torn between Mars bar and double decker. I may be completely wrong tho. It is very smooth with crunchy bits throughout it. Dreamy and creamy.
These bars are amazingly good.
Crunchy Crispy Toffee Trilogy
Yes you would be correct in thinking this has memories of the magnificent toffee crisp bar, with its thick chocolate and crunchy crispy pieces infused inside. My taste buds were certainly tantalised by this scrumptious treat and I also think it has similar flavours to those lovely green triangles I used to try digging out of a quality street tin, before my mother found them.
Lovely Fruity Nutty Crunch
I was slightly unsure about this one, prior to trying it. I'm not a lover of dried fruits such as raisins and currants but I really could not taste them. I could however certainly taste the thick chocolate, nuts and crunchy bits. It's like a very luxury up market version of the classic Picnic bar.
Hmm heavenly, White Chocolate Wonder Bar.
The white chocolate certainly reminds me of milky bars but the inside has a crunchy unique taste of its own. It is a little like a rice crispy cake inside, very crunchy and chocolaty.
Coconut Hocus Pocus is a little like a revamped bounty bar. The coconut covered in chocolate is all three but so are nuts and bits of fruit, maybe a few other delights; all thrown together to make this great tasting bar.
Like being on a tropical beach; well almost.
Crunchy Prailine Wonder Bar: well it does make you wonder, what does it taste like? It seems to be pure chocolate and Prailine. Quite crumbly, almost like a flake. Flavours of the green triangles coming through again.
I really really enjoyed this one.
Very Naughty Nutty Nougat.
One of my favorite chocolate bars as a child was topics. This bar reminds me of just that.
Full of nougat and huge bits of nut covered in thick chocolate.
Again another bar with dried fruit, but again I actually enjoyed it. The title fruit and nut obviously would stir up memories of Cadburys fruit & nut, but the taste is very different.
I have really enjoyed trying out all my bars. I only hope I don't get too fat eating them. The bars can be purchased through The Grown Up Chocolate Company. They cost £2.50 per bar and a minimum purchase of 4 packs is required.
