Chilli Paneer Dry

By Harini
After I posted this fried rice here I have been getting requests for Indo-chinese recipes. So I thought of posting one very famous recipe chilli paneer. But it was very hard for me to decide a recipe as I found a recipe in almost every blog/site.So i finally referred a small booklet I had and made that one.I am not a very big fan of all those sauces but there was no way I could make some Indo chinese dishes with out soy sauce. So I picked a small bottle and tried out a couple of dishes.Chilli paneer turned out fantastic. My sister kept on raving about it for hours :)I did make a significant change to the usual recipe.I did not deep fry the panner cubes but tool a very convinient short cut yet achived that golden crusted paneer cubes.Hope you all will try it out :). This is for you Sivakami :)

Chilli paneer dry recipe
Star ingredients:paneer(cottage cheese) and green bell pepper
Time:20 minutes
Serves:3
I always feel making Indo chinese dishes is way better than having them in resturants or fast food stalls. In resturants for sure they use ajinomoto which is not so good for us.It is said that ajinomoto is used to increase the taste, but I think you can very well increase the flavor and taste by just increasing the amount of ginger-garlic,pepper powder etc. Also whem home made you have complete control over sauces also.
Ingredients:
200grams paneer cut into cubes
2 tablespoons corn flour
2 green bell pepper cubed
1 large onion sliced into cubes and separated
2 teaspoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons chilli sauce
3 teaspoons hot tomato sauce
1 teaspoon pepper powder
2 tablespoons finely chopped spring onion white(instead of celary)
1/2 teaspoon freshly crushed ginger garlic
Salt
Method:
1.Heat a thick cast iron tava and add the paneer cubes.Add 2 teaspoons oil and turn the pieces gently.Sprinklw corn flour over it and saute gently till the paneer cubes turn golden
2.Heat a kadai and add 2 teaspoons and add crushed ginger garlic, spring onion whites.Saute till nice aroma wafts out.
3.Now add the green bell pepper cubes and saute in high flame till they wilt a bit.
4.Add the onion cubes and saute till they turn light golden.
5.Now reduce the flame and add all the sauces, salt and pepper powder and mix well.
6.Add the sauteed paneer cubes and mix well. Now toss everything well in high flame for 2 minutes.
7.Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
Notes:
1.Spring onion imparts an authentic flaavor to Indo chines dishes. So don't skip. You can also celary if available.
2.Increase/decrease sauces as per taste
3.You can use different colored bell peppers
