The Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday refrained from issuing an arrest warrant against State Minister Diana Gamage for allegedly committing an offense under the Immigration and Emigration act.
The Magistrate said that the investigating officers have the authority under the Criminal Procedure Code to deal with it and therefore, the Magistrate said that it is unnecessary for the Court to issue an order in this regard. Announcing the decision, the Magistrate stated that under the Criminal Procedure Code, the investigating officers have the power to deal with it.
Therefore, the Magistrate said that it is unnecessary for his Court to issue an order in this regard.
