Floods are one of the most common problems people have to deal with at least twice a year in most of the Asian countries. As a person living in a South Asian country, I know how many people suffers from river floods in every monsoon season. Most of the time these people are forced to abandon all of their belongings and leave home in order to save their lives. These problems will be solved easily if people could live in floating houses, like this one.

Vietnamese H&P Architects has designed this affordable house made of bamboo that floats with rising waters. According to TreeHugger, this house is 10.8 x 21.6-feet big and can survive floods of up to 1.5 meters. It’s not only brilliantly designed, but also features a beautiful interior with furniture made with bamboo as well.

The floating bamboo house is still in development and the designers are now trying to improve the house to withstand 3 meter floods. However this real prototype proves us that this is not such a bad idea after all. And I know this could be very useful for people in Asian countries.
