Brooklyn four-piece, People Get Ready, have been defying indie rock norms and enthusiastically illustrating experimental since their formation in 2009. This is especially true of their highly dynamic performances described by Bob Boilen as “part rock concert, part performance art, part dance, all perfectly melded together,” and by the band as “a sweaty, kinetic party”. Now, the band is prepped to release their sophomore record, Physiques, and we’ve got the trailer to kick your anticipatory levels into near-intolerable levels. Produced by Deerhoof’s Greg Saunier, Physiques “ramps up the band’s fierce, joyful, heedless interplay; its love of big pop and trancelike slow jams and songs that fall somewhere in-between; and, above all, its devotion to PLEASURE.” Sounds like a dream — literally.
Intrigued? People Get Ready are playing at Westway May 15 followed by Physique’s release show at Rough Trade NYC June 24. Humans prepare yourselves: pre-order People Get Ready’s Physiques here.
