Chaucer Barn | Norfolk Wedding Photography

A wedding at Chaucer Barn

Helen and Rob had the most amazing party at Chaucer Barn for their wedding last August. The threat of rain subsided early and it ended up being an absolutely baking hot day! The Best Man had something to say about the Groom’s choice of attire for them (full coat and tails) and I forgot my sunscreen (ouch!) but no one could complain! Even if there had been a downpour, a really great bunch of family and friends would have made up for bad weather. I first photographed the couple for their pre-wedding shoot in much much milder weather!

Helen and Rob married outside in the grounds of Chaucer Barn. A really lovely setting for an alfresco wedding celebration. Then after a quick signing of the register indoors it was back outside for the Groom’s speech, delivered from the steps of the barn. Rob had been really nervous about his speech and earlier that day I’d caught him hiding away, under the shade of a tree, making some last minute amendments. He need not have worried, it was an amazing speech and very well received. Rob is one of those men that give’s other men (like me) a bad name! Not only did he nail his speech but he also made most of the wedding decor that adorned Chaucer Barn that day! The pièce de résistance were the DIY tin-can lanterns that Rob had drilled a message in to to surprise Helen with at the end of the night!

The celebrations and fine weather continued late into the evening, allowing the bride and groom to cut their cake as the sunset and along with their guests, to light some sky lanterns – an Asian tradition said to imply good luck and prosperity!

A big thanks to Cat Robson for assisting on the day and also for helping out with transport for some, otherwise, stranded guests! This was a return trip for Cat and I, having been there just a few weeks earlier for another Chaucer Barn wedding.

There’s no doubting that weddings at this venue are most certainly very special. Thanks for having me along for your celebrations Helen and Rob, it was an absolute pleasure – enjoy!
