So...this is basically a reason for South Texas schools to have vacation and go to street parties and festivals right? If you're thinking, "Of course!" you're on the right track!
Each year a Sombrero Festival is held. It's a lot of games, contests, and cook offs for around $7 per person.
If you're not in the party mood, you could walk downtown to see one of three parades. Yes, three. We go all out.
A lot of people come in traditional dress to the parade! The outfits are so beautiful!
Then of course everyone lines the roads in anticipation for the parade!
Notice all the umbrellas? It's March and already getting hot in Texas!
There's a lot of little decorated stands along the parade route selling food. Some have better grammatical skills than others...
The houses in the downtown also are decorated with ribbons and flags from both countries!
Even though it got a little hot, it was a lovely way to spend a Saturday! Happy Charro Days everyone and viva the friendship between Mexico and the US!
