Chanel’s Hula Hoop Bag is Available This Spring – the Mini Version at Least!

Karl Lagerfeld, the current brain behind the Chanel brand, created a bag out of a hula hoop and included it in the premier fashion label’s runway fashion show last October, jesting that anybody can have thousands of good uses of this contraption at the beach. Seriously, he explained that the gargantuan-sized hula hoop bag is meant to be a fine accessory for beach goers and bums, and useful in keeping beach towels, lotions, and accessories.Hula Hoop Bag is now on saleWhile many thought that the bag was only meant as a quirky accessory for the last Chanel runway show, they must be floored now to find out that Channel has commercially produced this Lagerfeld’s bag and is now being sold to the public. But wait – don’t expect that you will get your hands on the original full size hula hoop. You will only have the chance to own the smaller version, which was also featured in Chanel show. The size of the bag was trimmed down to less than 2 feet in diameter, which I still believe is quite a large dimension. What was not cut down was its price – the Hula Hoop bag is sold at a high price of US$2,400.Butt of JokeNow that the hula hoop bag is available for everyone to own, the prayers of loyal Chanel’s fans had been answered; albeit the majority is not amused. Ever since the bag was featured in the show, it became the butt of everyone’s joke. Last month, Alexa Chung was gifted by Anderson Cooper with his own version as the model appeared in the latter’s show.Purpose of mini versionSo, Lagerfeld was serious about the bag being handy as a towel holder. But he was talking about the large sized one. How can this noble purpose be achieved by the mini version? Perhaps, it can be useful for other beach related activities. Owners might want to add more volume by inflating it, and voila! It is now a beach ball. Others suggest that it might be fantastic as a necklace (which I can’t imagine). As so, many were proven wrong – thanks to Karl Lagerfeld’s insistence to market his hula hoop bag. The most buzzed-about accessory at the Chanel Spring and Summer 2013 fashion show – Lagerfeld’s own creation – is now available for everyone to own. Will you be one of them?Image Source: Sevelina
