The Cessna 180 Skywagon first flew in 1952 filling a niche between Cessna’s 170 and their 190/195.  In the late 1950’s Cessna recognized a need for a purpose-built, heavy-hauling, bush plane that could handle wheels, floats or skis.  First flown in 1960, the 185 was born, sporting a strengthened fuselage, taller fin and larger engine.  Over 4,400 of these Skywagons were produced from 1960-1985.  As seen on this fine example descending for a touchdown during the annual Pacific Coast Dream Machines show, Skywagons with amphibious floats can operate from water or a standard runway.  Nikon D300 w/18-200mm.
