Kindred Hospital Coordinates Backpacks and School Supplies for Kids

Kindred Hospital has coordinated with CWE sponsors to invite area children to the Central West End Backpack Program!

On Wednesday, September 4, 2019- between 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. an event will be hosted providing hundreds of backpacks filled with back-to-school supplies for area children. The location is the St. Louis Public Library, Schlafly branch located at 225 North Euclid Avenue in the Central West End. Students without transportation to the library can go to the St. Louis Boys and Girls Club where vans will transport them to the library. St. Louis Boys & Girls Club is located at 2901 North Grand Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63107.

Kindred Hospital, Chase Park Sonesta and Carboline Company are providing backpacks. Supplies were provided by the World Chess Hall of Fame, The CUP, Paul Mitchell School, Travel Plex, STLBTA and Dr. Kim Perry. The City of St. Louis will be represented by the Youth Empowerment Services Program to provide information to families about positive lifestyle principles. The St. Louis Public Library is providing distribution space. The Boys and Girls Club of St Louis is providing transportation. The Central West End Association and CWE North Business Community Improvement District are assisting with community awareness.

As proud members of the Central West End Association, we are delighted our community businesses and city have come together to offer resources to area students. Back to school is an exciting time, but it can also be overwhelming to equip your child to go back to school. Buying back-to-school clothes and supplies can be a big investment. Schools attempt to cover many costs, but simply cannot cover the costs of every child's back-to-school supplies. A young person without school supplies naturally is not as excited about returning to school.

There is something about new school supplies. Maybe it is the unique smell of new pencils and paper. Probably, it is the excitement associated with a new school year that means a fresh beginning! Each fall, students have a new opportunity to strive to do better and reach new heights. Kids and the first days of school are full of promise. We all love fresh starts and renewed optimism. New school supplies and backpacks represent new starts, literally. New supplies of one's own sends kids to school with more confidence and a sense of readiness.

According to Kevin Shrake, "We found a lot of willing partners in the community who put in time and resources to do something that benefits our community, and something that we hope will get the school year off to a better start for many families. Sharke is the Chief Executive Officer of Kindred Hospital in St. Louis.

Contributing resources to our community children directly benefits our entire community. Investing in our children today directly impacts the quality of our tomorrows!

Many thanks to the greater Central West End community and businesses in investing in our kids!
