Cats in Art

By Drharrietd @drharrietd

Quite a selection for you today, it being world cat day, apparently.

This first one is a portrait of Manet's daughter Julie, painted by his friend Renoir.

This is by the Dutch artist Henriette Ronner-Knip (1821-1909), who painted lots of cats.

In fact this is another of hers.

And finally, a couple of the wonderful "improved" paintings by the Russian artist Svetlana Petrova

This is Titian's Venus of Urbino

and this is Chagall's Over the Town.

Check here for the Mona Lisa, Whistler's Mother, and several other delights.
