Casual on the Red Carpet: Cool Or Not?

Many of us can only dream about the glamorous dresses and fabulous shoes we would wear to an A-list premiere. However, it seems that these days some celebs are taking effortless chic a little too far, turning up to events dressed-down in their favorite pair of jeans and/or shoes. Is that cool on the red carpet or just a little bit too casual?

K-Stew is anything but predictable when it comes to fashion. In the past, her red carpet staples have included a punky safety pin Balmain mini and on-trend playsuits by Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton and Jason Wu. Occasionally, however, the Twilight starlet opts to dress down, rocking dirty Converse at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, and a pair of cuffed indigo skinny jeans to the premiere of A Better Life. On that occasion she teamed her denim with a loose tee, but added a touch of glitz with a pair of stylish peep-toe Brian Atwood heels.

Ed Sheeran 

The singer's go-to outfit of t-shirt, jeans and trainers is one he's proud to rock on and off the red carpet. Ed displayed his casual look at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards in Brooklyn. This might be a little too casual for some, but it's good to know that fame appears not to have changed Ed too much. You can steal his simple style with a pair of cool Bench jeans from Very.

Mila Kunis
While Mila stole the show at the 2011 Oscars in Elie Saab Couture, FHM's Sexiest Woman in the World has proved that she doesn't need to dress up to look gorgeous. At last year's Comic-Con in San Diego, the actress opted for a classic casual combo, layering a black blazer over a tank top and skinny jeans, completing the look with embellished Dolce & Gabbana pumps.

Rihanna

Notorious for her raunchy and revealing attire, Rihanna turned up to the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards dressed down in a simple cut-off tee, dark blue-cuffed jeans and a sparkly choker. Never one to follow the rules, her outfit choice may explain why she skipped the red carpet and headed straight to her seat.
