Caspian – “(Hymn For) the Greatest Generation”

Though I definitely wouldn’t group Caspian in with a recently seen emo resurgence, it’s hard to argue that their particular brand of post-rock isn’t at least a little informed by the genre. Rather than going for the delay shellacked anti-dance or ear-ringing ambience typical to post-rock, Caspian have embedded “(Hymn for) the Greatest Generation” with a soft, but direct, emotiveness. The song starts off with the soft moans of a synthetic loop, before an acoustic guitar melody brings it to the celestial heights of something like Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

If you don’t like this song, you are a soulless monster.

Caspian’s upcoming EP, titled Hymn For The Greatest Generation is out November 12 on Triple Crown Records.
