Eyewear brand Carrera has launched a new campaign in 2015 under the motto Out There, especially targeting the generation of the so-called Millenials (young people born between the years 1980 and 2000). They’ve used the Internet and social networks as main resources to advertise this campaign.
The Out There philosophy encourages us to step outside of our comfort zone where all of us try to stay in and go out there to see the world and discover what is yet to come. But before going “out there”, let’s stay right here and go over the brand’s history and how it all started.
It was in 1956 that Wilhelm Anger decided to name his sports eyewear company after the longest, fastest and most dangerous race in the world: the Pan-American Race, also known as the Mexican Road Race (in Spanish, the “Carrera Panamericana”; hence, the name of the brand), a six-day race in Mexico to celebrate the end of Pan-American Highway.
CARRERA NEW CHAMPION
The model Carrera New Champion has a unique and unmistakeable shape, but at the same time, its casual style makes it a very easy-to-wear model, especially for those who love sports style. This new collection is made from Optyl, a Safilo registered trademark, a thermo-adjustable plastic material composed of epoxy resin. This ground-breaking high-tech material has distinctive features that make it possible to provide wearers with lightweight feel, climatic adaptation, a shape-memory effect and brilliance and strength. Both colours – Havana, bronze or black- as well as finishes only seek for a much more natural look. Moreover, this reedition incorporates a new designer lens-style (featuring the so popular mirrored lenses too), the front is slightly smaller and features a straighter shape and the logo-brand that used to be placed on top of the bridge has now been given up.
Along with the New Champion, Carrera has introduced many other new models in both sunglass and optical lines in their new 2015 collection, playing with shapes and modern and fresh colours. Some of these new models part of this new design line are sunglasses like model 5001, available in three alternative styles – with purple temples and orange front, with temples featuring geometrical prints and transparent front or with animal print on the front and orange temples-, model 5024, with a strong round shape and a classic olive green colour, or the new version of Carrera 6000 model.
Within the optical line, new styles have also been added, such us model 6621, with a strong retro-style aviator design, model 4401, with square shape and smoke grey, metallic model 5525, with rectangular shape and classic style, or model 6636, with retro round lines.
Because of campaigns such as “Corner Office” and “Road Less Boring”, the new concept Out There has become quite popular and it’s reached a very large audience. The idea is simple: Live your life with passion and don’t be afraid of stepping outside your comfort zone!
