Given the cold and bleak weather outside, here are 5 songs for cozy hours at home - some to brighten your mood, some to rock out to, some to relentlessly indulge in and some to simply warm your heart ...
I. Waitin' for You
Former lead guitarist and founding member of the now popular indie-rock-outfit Catfish and the Bottlemen, Billy Bibby kept people waiting for his debut single for a while, however has not been idle since he went solo in summer 2014. With a three-song acoustic repertoire on soundcloud (give this soulful and melodiously vibrant trio a listen), the experience of having promoted his new music live on tour in its original acoustic attire and a full band (Rob Jones on lead guitar, Matt Thomas on bass and Michael Pearce on drums) to back his strong and jaunty voice, the singer/songwriter is ready to show his true musical colours. And while 'Waitin' for You' doesn't lack the Catfish and the Bottlemen dynamic (remark the thrilling guitar solo!), it puts more focus on lively (as well as lovely) harmonies and upbeat, bright melodies, rather than to embrace dashing rock'n'roll impetus. Country rock at core and lighthearted pop on the outside, the song floats in a vividly rhythmic and joyfully spirited style, governed by Billy's brisk and charmingly raucous vocal lead. Debuting as a band last month at Telford's Warehouse in Chester and releasing an official first single with 'Waitin' for You', carpe carmina is quite certain that we're gonna hear a lot more (great music) from Billy Bibby and his band in 2016. Bring it on, Billy!

III. Whispers
Creatively daring songsmith James Holt has a way with composing that makes listening to his music an aural blessing par excellence; and the latest tonal testimony to this is a languorous delight: melodiously ambivalent 'Whispers' lures and captivates the listener by weaving beautifully levitating melodic layers and summoning an atmospherically ascending instrumental aura. Light and blissfully elusive melodies emerge from a deep and tranquil sea of sound, soar sonorously buoyant and dynamically dulcet to eventually fall back into their halcyon, dreamful state. James' soothing, expressively high-pitched and sensitive vocal delivery frames the musical picture that is 'Whispers' in an irresistibly quaint and powerful fashion, adds to the quality of the song's already rich and inviting tonal texture. Magnificent music-making takes place here!

When a song of indie rockers Scarlet hits you, then it hits you hard, hard and heavy - with an album in the making, demo 'Heavy' showcases the smashing potential of manchester's most-wanted female-fronted alt-rock outfit for a third time in a row (first carpe carmina took notice after suspensefully synth-ladden demo 'Georgia' popped up on soundcloud, then after the glorious release of debut EP 'Fishes'). Installing gritty guitar shivers in an all melodious tonal environment of excitingly hazy and dimly gripping musical essence, it's Jessie's ardent vocal charisma that links the grungy to the peppy part of Scarlet's music. And that makes the band's sound not only refreshingly easy on the ear but also absorbingly arcane and impulsively hard-hitting in total.

V. Take It Over
Set to be 'unleashed' in early 2016, manchester rock quartet the Reveurs spark a roaring bonfire of explosively vehement tonal temper with new single 'Take It Over'. Energetically dashing and vivaciously rousing instrumentals join forces with passionate and throaty vocal impetus while creating an overall boisterous melodic mood. Intensely infectious, the band's first release after signing with DMF Digital, is destined to take its audience by storm. And chances are pretty high, the song's gonna strike in a fulminant fashion indeed!
