Carnival Youth – ‘Octopus’ Video

Posted on the 29 October 2014 by Spectralnights

We introduced you to Carnival Youth back in the summer when they released their debut single ‘Never Have Enough’ and now the Latvian folk-poppers have released a new video for ‘Octopus’. With a more electro-tinged feeling than the previous video, the song has the quirkier elements of bands like Wild Beasts and Dutch Uncles but expertly blends these with the kind of songwriting that has served Midlake so well. As the band sing ‘Take off your shoes, dance with me’ and about how ‘I always really liked you’, you can’t fail to have your heart warmed. For us, the video gives a nod to The Returned and is not only beautifully shot but has just enough uneasiness to give an edge. Fast becoming one of our favorite bands, Carnival Youth sound like a group worth celebrating.
