Cannes Film ‘Cosmopolis’ Looks to Change Opinions on Robert Pattinson

I haven’t seen that many David Cronenberg films. From the ones I’ve seen (History of Violence and Eastern Promises), I’ve been incredibly impressed. He knows how to bring a riveting story with intense violence. Last year’s effort, A Dangerous Method, was ill received. His newest film, Cosmopolis, has been selected for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The most interesting part about this all is that Robert Pattinson (Twilight) will be playing the lead. If there’s any director who can change the way audiences feel about Robert Pattinson, David Cronenberg will be able to do it. Below is the trailer for the film and poster.

Cosmopolis will screen at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival on May 25th 2012. No US release date yet.

Official Synopsis:

Director David Cronenberg adapts author Don DeLillo‘s novel about a Manhattan billionaire (Robert Pattinson) who finds his quest to get a haircut from his father’s old barber complicated by the presidential motorcade, a gang of violent anarchists, and a funeral procession for a famous hip-hop star. Meanwhile, the wealthy 28-year-old’s vast fortune rests on the value of the yen, which he continually monitors from the comfort of his stretch limo.  Paul Giamatti, and Juliette Binoche co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
