This Sabre, painted in Golden Hawks livery, is part of the fine collection at the Speyer Technik Museum. In 1948, the Canadian government decided to re-equip the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) with the F-86 Sabre with Canadair contracted to produce them in Montreal, Canada. The Canadair Sabre Mk.6 was the final variant and was considered to be the “best” production Sabre ever built. With a top speed of 710mph, the Canadian Sabres were faster than the US models. The first production model was completed on 2 November 1954 and ultimately 655 were built with production terminating on 9 October 1958. The Golden Hawks were a RCAF aerobatic flying team established in 1959 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the RCAF, later disbanded in 1964.
