The first time I ever listened to Rihanna was in her duet with Eminem in Love the Way You Lie. I really liked the song and thought she did well with it. Shortly after, I heard she was releasing a new album with “Love the Way You Lie Pt. 2″ and since I liked the song so much, I decided to give it a listen. However, the song I chose for today’s entry didn’t really get my attention until recently. I can actually relate to it because there’s a guy I really care about in California. I don’t know when I’ll see him again but I’ll always hope that maybe we’ll be together someday.
California King Bed was released as a single in May of 2010 from her fifth album, Loud. The song was written by Andrew Harr, Jermaine Jackson, Priscilla Renea, and Alex Delicata. It peaked at #37 on Billboard’s Hot 100 after several weeks of fluctuating on the charts. However, it went to #1 in Poland and Slovakia and made the Top 5 in Australia, Austria, Germany, and New Zealand.
Even though it didn’t do well on US charts, it was actually chosen from a fan poll that was set up on Rihanna’s website. Out of four choices, the song with the highest number of votes would be the next single. Calfornia King Bed won.

In this California king bed we’re ten thousand miles apart. I’ve been California wishing on these stars, for your heart for me, my California king…
