The newest tune from Calexico captures a distinct mixture of perfect blue skies and a loneliness-induced existential crisis and feeling of not being at home in your own skin. In “Falling from the Sky”, one can almost imagine driving under the Southwestern sun as the brass hits into full swing. The lyrics, “Where do you fall when you have nowhere to go?/What do you feel when you’re all alone?”, shake up the beautiful day and stir trouble in one’s very bones. This infectiously melancholic melody is off their next album, due in April.
