Pinch and a punch for the last day of the month ~ and the last day of the financial year here in Australia. [But let's not go there ~ tax time, ugh!]

Not to mention we are halfway through 2014! How did that happen?!

So July.

  • It was named by the Roman Senate in honor of the Roman general, Julius Caesar, it being the month of his birth. Prior to that, it was called Quintilis.
  • July starts on the same day of the week as April in every year, and January in leap years. In a common year no other month ends on the same day as July.
  • It’s hot in the north and freezing in the south.
  • It’s a great month for Independence Days around the world ~ including the US on the fourth of July ~ and its Bastille Day on July 14.
  • July’s birthstone is the ruby and its birth flowers are the Larkspur or the Water Lily.
